We have all experienced the challenge of keeping our young curlers engaged in the sport. Many get tired of the skills development approach and prefer playing to doing drills. Others finish the bantam level but are not prepared to travel to bonspiels every weekend and are too young to join an adult league. Yet others are simply looking for a chance to play more to sharpen their skills.
In order to keep these young curlers playing, a new city wide youth league is starting up this October. This league is targeting curlers of all skill level between the ages of 12 and 18 (U18). It is not intended for our elite teams who are regularly away at competitions.
We are seeking combinations of recreational to semi/competitive teams or players to play in a 18-21 team open format league. Draws are weekly, games are played on Sundays at various Ottawa clubs. Teams will be divided in three divisions with a ladder system allowing movement after each round.
