On the road to Pyeongchang, Canada's curling elite will have to stop in Ottawa first!
Curling Canada CEO Greg Stremlaw made the announcement today in Calgary at a press conference held during the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier.
The bid for the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings was a joint effort put forward by Senators Sports and Entertainment, Ottawa Tourism, and the OVCA. In October, the OVCA asked its member clubs to write letters of support for the bid to be included in the bid book. Your overwhelming support was one of the many reasons Ottawa was chosen to host the prestigious event.
"“All of the candidate cities put in superb bids, and once we got to our shortlist, we knew that we had nothing but winning proposals on our hands. It’s a testament to the popularity of our sport, and these events, that there was so much interest in hosting them,” said Stremlaw in a Curling Canada press release.
Stay tuned to the OVCA website, and our social media platforms for the latest information on the Roar, as it becomes available.
