OVCA Youth Policies and Application Forms

Youth Travel Grant Policy
OVCA subsidizes travel expenses for youth (bantam, junior and university) teams attending OCA provincial championships, at the current OVCA mileage rate (one car per team to and from the event). For the Ontario University Provincial Championships and all the youth events recognized by the OCA, a distance to the competition will be established (city to city using mapquest). Each team qualifying may claim a payment equal to distance times rate (currently 20 cents).
With regards to national or international events, with the CCA expanding the number of its sanctioned events to 25, the OVCA will only provide funding for OVCA Junior teams who advance to the Canadian Junior Championships and World Junior Championships. The OVCA will provide up to 60 pins to each OVCA team attending a CCA-sanctioned event, if requested in writing to the OVCA Events Coordinator. As with the OVCA's existing policy, the bantam and junior teams must be members of, and represent an OVCA member club, and the funding would be limited to $500 per team per event. For national university championships, support for players is limited to those who are active members of, and represent an OVCA member club, and the funding would be limited to $125 per player per event. The travel policy/grant claim form is available here.

OVCA Support for Non-competitive Youth Curling Programs
In October 2012, the OVCA Board of Directors approved funding to develop, support and promote non-competitive youth curling. The OVCA will engage in a three-year plan, allocating $2,500 in year 1 (commencing September 2012) and increasing to $5,000 in year 2 and 3 to assist OVCA clubs in developing and promoting non-competitive youth programs.
Young non-competitive curlers need an environment to continue curling and clubs need support in developing programs to support the non-competitive curling programs.
It will take at least three years to implement the program. Year 1 (2012-2013), will be the start up year, Year 2 (2013-2014) will see some growth and improvements upon the program and by Year 3 (2014-2015) the program should be in full implementation and there should be visible growth and support for curlers and clubs since Year 1.
The program overview and application form is available here. Contact Jim Inch  if your club would like to take advantage of the funding.
